Dam Safety and Reservoir Operation

Across the world, number of various-scale with multiple purposes dams, water supply dams, irrigation dams and hydropower dams have been built and operating. Recently, an increasing amount of dam damage or failure due to aging, earthquakes occurrence and abnormal changes in weather attracts a great deal of attention on dam safety in terms of disaster management at a national level. In addition, a sustainable development for the health of ecosystem and habitants living along rivers where dams built require a suitable operation plan. Therefore, it is needed from government to come up with a set of legal actions to secure dam safety as well as ensure the sustainable environment related to dam operation.

This workshop invites experts from India, China, and Vietnam to share their lesson learned in terms of dam development in the framework of sustainable and safe development.
